This was an excellent, no-frills course! This course is neither coated with the eye candy of making mobile applications in only days, or another gimmick. Programming must be understood from the very basics of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), and not by showing somebody only how to code. This course is a necessity as groundwork to any beginning programmer with intentions of moving on to more advanced courses in Java, or any other programming language. The professor in this course is very easy to understand. The only concern I had would be that to some extent, he sometimes forgot to explain the core meaning of particular items, but only 1% of the time. Use Stack Overflow for extended assistance in the case that you did not completely understand a lesson. The programming community members online are very helpful. The videos were also very clear. Good luck, and do not give up! This course is groundwork!

I took this course right after i finished my first year of college, and it turned out that this course is more detailed about classes, objects and constructors than the one i took in college.
I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn Java as a beginner.

I found the Java basics were really well covered without wasting too much time on fluff. The presenter was very good and to the point. I was able to write some good java programs, including a program that could split large files, show the tail end of a large file and some other fun programs such as throwing two dice and working out the number of times a certain number was rolled. Thank you, I very much enjoyed the course.

The pace was a little bit slow but his promise to let the mistakes stay in the final cut made it very helpful, because it helped me to detect my own mistakes as I coded as well. I left off a star because I’d like to see more ways of keeping me engaged, e.g. changing up the camera or making it obvious where the cursor is as he went along in the dialogue, or even just having a bulleted list of topics he would cover in each lesson. Definitely worth it and I’m glad I went through this course.

I knew nothing about Java (though had some basic Python & Javascript experience before) and this is the best course! Instructor is great in explaining all in details and providing examples in exercises! Highly recommend!

I learned the basics , but I didn’t really find anything to make things stick other than repetition.

If he taught a college course in the summer and I was new to programming? I’m pretty sure I’d receive an F despite my best efforts.

This was a great course taught in a concise way with illustrative example programs which helped explain the concepts well. The lecturer was easy to understand, without being overly verbose and gave good insight on some common errors that programmers make. He also helped a lot with accustoming me to good programming habits which I was unaware of before this course. The only minor issue I had is that some theory/philosophy (the non programming aspect) behind certain concepts such as Interfaces, abstract classes etc. weren’t explained in detail and I had a little trouble understanding why they were used at all. All-in-all, I loved the course and am looking forward to purchasing the advanced course to enhance my grasp on this language.

The class is easy to follow and explains the fundamentals in depth. Each subject is broken down so that you can understand how Java programming works. This is a great foundation builder for starters.

The class gave me a solid understanding of the basics in java.

As there are newer versions of the java the installation was not the same, I had alot fewer options so I don’t know if I’m missing something yet. Also it’s hard to know when codeing if he uses spaces sometimes also knowing if there is a capital letter or not. But so far so good, these where just some minor things that was hard for me…

The above was after 3 lessons, for some reason I was asked to give review. I believed it was for the first lessons.

Now I’m at 50%, had to read up by myself and watch some youtube videos as not all is clear, for example all the different variables.

I keep adding and changing the review as I progress .

@60% Still same, overall good, but somethings are really hard and not explained…. Hopefully someone will answer the QA… 🙂

Just finished and can say that never got an answer on my questions i put in QA.

What i missed in this course. Somethings where really hard do understand so I had to look them up on youtube. And that were some basic things. Some things weren’t explained at all.

The progression was to big for my sake. Also a lot of mathematical thinking, would be better to make it more basic.

Overall good but there is a lot still I don’t understand.
