The idea of UX, or User Experience, is not new but continues to be a sore point for designers and end users. For those who can figure it out, it pays well more than graphic design alone. And, UX design uses skills you already have. Interested? Don’t have a clue what UX Design is or where to start? We’ve got the UX design training experience that’s going to open a whole new world, and better-paying work!

UX design is creating products, most commonly apps and websites, that are easy to use, please the end user and look great. It’s understanding what the target user needs and how they get what they want. It’s how they interact with the information and how they navigate your design. The reason there’s so much demand for UX designers is that not a lot of graphic designers truly understand what’s involved. It’s more than slick graphics!

At BYOL, we’ve got years of design experience and an equally impressive number of years teaching design to real world standards. We know what UX and UI design for professional grade work require, and we know how to give you the best training and information to build you a lifelong foundation.

I think that the course could do with a rename/rebrand? I’d make clear that it’s for existing designers who’re thinking of moving to UI/UX rather than a complete newbie with no prior design experience. That being said, I think that this course explains the life-cycle of a UX designer on a very shallow level. (Maybe renaming it to the life-cycle of a UX designer?) I would probably set out the content more clearly with some text as he moves on from each topic within the longer videos. In hindsight, I could’ve gotten the same level of information from YouTube or through reading on the web. 3.5/5.

I thoroughly enjoyed the course and found it to be very useful and practical. I’m a big fan of Dan’s teaching style and I always appreciate the real-world experience he brings to the table.
I’ve already completed Dan’s Figma course [which was amazing!] and I’m off to start the Adobe XD course.
Dan is an excellent instructor and I highly recommend his courses.

Good presentation and easy to follow intro to UX. I feel the course could have benefitted from a few real life examples to illustrate some of the methods Dan was describing. For example, it would have been really helpful to see a sample user persona or a testing report.

Content is quite outdated. Still interesting as a framework but scratching the surface. I was expecting more of an in-depth theory on different elements, proven statistics, historical results of years of A/B testing, best practices, what works best, … etc.

Didn’t really get to see that. Unfortunate.

Thank you, Dan, for an amazing course that explained in detail what UX really is. Ever since I started learning graphic design, I’ve come across the terms UI and UX a lot, not really knowing what they mean. This course taught me what to expect – and I loved it! So see you in the XD and Figma courses soon! 🙂

Great introductory course. I took a couple of other ones in the past and felt I didn’t really have much information on how to actually be a UX designer. I feel this course was very helpful in giving me a breakdown of how the UX process works and actionable steps I can take next towards building my career in UX!

I really enjoyed this course. I’m a graphic designer and would like to get into UI/UX. This course was full of great foundational information that I was looking for before jumping into XD and playing around without knowing anything about UI/UX.
